Body image and an influence in the virtual world
What?
What is your research about? What kind of narrative are you telling with it?

It's about body image and struggles in the virtual world. I want to show&tell story through images and interview of people going trough different stages during a shopping.

Why?
Why is this research important and urgent? How is your research socially relevant? For example, what does it say about the social construction of body canons? Or about our way of showing and consuming? Or about how identity is constructed? Etc...

This is a hot topic over a decade. Everyone was going through that period questioning our self-image and unfortunately for most people that stay as a long-term issue and affects their daily life. While traditional media mediums (television, magazines, even the Internet), portrayed a certain idea of “beauty” during this time.

Who?
For who this research is relevant or made for?

For all people who were/ weren't got in a position physically or mentally comparing themselves with the rest of the world on a normal basis. The main objectives are to determine perceptions towards our bodies and the related socio-cultural influences of this view and to examine clothing preference.

How?
How does your research communicate? How do you present your analysis visual?

I would use mapping as a main visual base for showing a virtual space (bubble).
The interview would be a huge help to get ideas on how to get a visual and different perspective of each person who willing to take an interview.
With previous interviews based on a few basic questions, I would create images and show how people in different situations during their thoughts with their own body

self-esteem
What are these visual social media platforms doing to the way(s) in which we, as a society, communicate what is “beautiful” and affect our IDENTITY?

MAPPING OF VIRTUAL SPACE
I interviewed four of my close friends that I know for a long time.

In this survey, I interview three females and one male in range (21-24) year. Three of them declares as straight and one as bisexual orientation. All four participant were going through some self insecurity in their lifetime.

I gave them a series of question where they answer with y/n and where they can answer in short to describe their issues.

From the beginning, I try to keep their privacy on maximum because I know how this topic is sensitive and stories they told me are a serious thing and their journeys they went through.
One of the many questions that I asked in the survey that participants describe me in short what is for them a safe space?

How does it look like?
Does have any colours?
Is it big or small like for one person?
How do they react in that environment?

I managed to sketch a few ideas and create posters out of it to criticises beauty standards
